The GT 100 technology portfolio offers rubber compound groups based on three different polymers: FKM, HNBR, and VMQ. It covers already a broad range of temperature and media resistance for your needs with excellent properties:

 

 

 

 

FKM/FPM: Fluorocarbons are high temperature oil resistant elastomers, capable of providing a very wide chemical compatibility range. There are several different fluorocarbon compounds available. The basis of the different compounds is the incorporation of fluorine into the polymer chain. Fluorocarbons were originally developed as a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene (HFP) and vinylidene fluoride (VDF). Copolymers are the standard type of FKMs showing a good overall performance with fluorine content typically in the range of around 66 weight percent. Terpolymers composed of VDF, HFP, and tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) have a higher fluorine content compared to copolymers (typically between 68 and 69 weight percent fluorine), which results in better chemical and heat resistance. Compression set and low temperature flexibility may be affected negatively.

VMQ: Silicone elastomers are a special case within the rubber polymers family as they are not 100% based on organic chemistry.  Instead of carbon polymer chains, the silicon polymer chain alternatively consists of silicium and oxygen atoms (siloxane). Silicone rubber covers a wide temperature range offering excellent resistance to oxidation and ozone degradation. They are most commonly used in static applications and very popular for food and medical applications. Their major problem is the relatively poor tensile strength and tear resistance which in turn makes them susceptible to wear and also more prone to damage on assembly.

HNBR: Created by partially or fully hydrogenating NBR, the hydrogenating process saturates the polymeric chain with accompanying improvements to the ozone, heat and aging resistance of the elastomer and improves overall mechanical properties. HNBR has excellent heat and oil resistance, improved fuel, ozone resistance and good abrasion resistance.
