The technology portfolio for hot steam applications provides solutions for any cases of hot steam applications in oil field pumps and valves, marine diesel engines, heat exchangers, paper/pulp processing equipment and hot water/steam systems. Some media become more aggressive in a mixture with other media despite appearing to be compatible and will damage seals made of traditional formulations.

 

In dry heat temperatures exceeding 100 °C, standard EPDM has a sudden and dramatic loss of integrity (retained tensile) and extensibility (retained elongation). The failure mechanism is oxidation. The effects of steam on an FKM elastomer are quite evident as well. The failure mechanism is dehydrohalogenation despite the low level of VF2 in the elastomer.Each application requires therefore a special polymer based compound; we have chosen to offer alternative technologies in EPDM and FKM, applying the best suitable polymers to cope with the natural weakness of the above-mentioned cases.In addition, we have the FEPM technology, which has proven record of accomplishment in many applications. Examining the retention of tensile strength (integrity) and the retention of elongation (extensibility) identifies a sealing material capable of long-term service in high temperature steam and hot aqueous fluids.
